According to the United Nations, there are 795 million people around the world who are hungry. As the world’s largest restaurant company, we believe it is our privilege and responsibility to make a difference in the lives of others less fortunate who are hungry around the globe.
In 2007 as we approached our 10th anniversary, we decided to align our system around a global crisis that we were well positioned to address – hunger relief. Yum! and our Brands had a longstanding commitment to hunger in the U.S. through our Harvest program.
Today, Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief effort is one of the world’s largest private sector hunger relief initiative, spanning more than 125 countries and territories, with over 41,000 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants and 1.5 million employees. We have raised nearly $600 Million in cash and food donations for WFP and other hunger relief agencies, helping to provide nearly 2.4 billion nutritious meals for those in need and save the lives of millions of people in remote corners of the world.
Multi-Grammy Award winner and international superstar Christina Aguilera has served as volunteer spokesperson for Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief since 2009 where her participation has helped raise millions for WFP and other hunger relief agencies. This fall, Aguilera will be featured in an online PSA that includes footage from her recent WFP humanitarian trip to Ecuador where she witnessed the effects of hunger first hand and helped beneficiaries of WFP’s nutrition programs.
Please join us in the movement to end global hunger. Every U.S. dollar raised will go directly towards WFP’s operations to fight hunger around the world. One U.S. dollar provides four meals for hungry children at school.
Together we can save lives and move people from hunger to hope.
